moroccanoil Review...

Don't worry, I haven't gone off my Kerastase Elixir Ultime! :)

I have been wanting to try Moroccanoil (Moroccan Oil) Hair Treatment Oil since it was featured in InStyle magazine's Top 100 Beauty Buys last year. As it's not available at any salon near me I have lusted after this product from afar :)

This all changed last Friday! My mum was given a 10ml sample bottle of moroccanoil and as she has short hair she thought it would be better for me so she gave it to me *happy dance* :)

Here it is...

I tried it tonight after washing my hair and I LOVE IT! :)

Firstly, I used Kerastase Elixir Ultime on my dry hair, then I shampooed twice using Kerastase Bain Oleo-Relax and lastly Goldwell intensive conditioning masque for coloured hair. I then applied a 10p-sized amount of moroccanoil through the lengths & ends of my towel-dried hair (whilst it was still damp). I gave it a comb through before blasting it dry with the hairdryer.

The result? Soft, sleek, shiny hair with a gorgeous vanilla scent! Wow! :) It's now been a couple of hours since I dried my hair and the smell of the hair products I used is amazing - think vanilla mixed with the scent of the 4 oils in Kerastase Elixir Ultime - yum! I can't stop sniffing my hair :)

As soon as my hair was dry I rushed downstairs and went onto Google. A 100ml bottle of this seems to retail from anywhere between £25-£30 so I shall definitely be investing in a full-sized bottle soon. However, this may not be for a while as it doesn't look like I've used any of the 10ml in the sample bottle I have, which is a real bonus :)

Therefore, as of today, my new haircare routine is as follows:

* 2 pumps of Kerastase Elixir Ultime on dry hair (lengths & ends only)
* double shampoo using Kerastase Oleo-Relax
* condition using one of the following (depending on which one I fancy using!): Goldwell 1 Minute Colour Masque / Aveda Rosemary Mint / L'Oreal Professional Liss Ultime / Body Shop Honey / Kiehl's Rice & Wheat Volumizing Conditioning Rinse

After the above & before blow-drying (on damp hair):
* a 10p-sized amount of moroccanoil through lengths & ends
* small amount of Kerastase Nectar Thermique all over

Phew! This may sounds like a heck of a routine, but each product works to keep my long hair how I like it. Also, with the weather being colder at this time of year I like to counteract the damaging effects of central heating, cold weather, rain, etc.

It contains one of the same oils used in Kerastase Elixir Ultime (Argan Oil) so perhaps this is the 'secret' ingredient? Regardless, I shall be using this from now on :)

  2. @Straight Up Glam.. you're welcome, thank you :) My hair comes down to about 3" above my waist (I'm 5ft7) so keeping it 'Kim Kardashian-esque' is a daily challenge ;) x
