Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Color Save Range + other goodies!

When I was asked to review these products, I was excited by the claims. To give the products their full title - BC Bonacure hairtherapy Amino Cell Rebuild Color Save Sulfate Free - this is a selection of the new products by Schwarzkopf...

I got sent: Sulfate-Free Shampoo (250ml), Conditioner (200ml) & Coloured Ends (75ml tube)

Here's some more information about them:

Color Save Sulfate-Free Shampoo cleanses and protects colour-treated hair from fading. For up to 90% colour retention even after 30 washes. BC hairtherapy with it's sulfate-free formulation gently cleanses the hair whilst being gentle to colour pigments. Amino Cell Rebuild technology recovers the hair's natural elasticity by strengthening the architecture in the hair cell. For hair full of long-lasting colour vibrancy and healthy shine.

Application: Work into wet hair and rinse out. Salon exclusive.

Color Save Conditioner detangles and protects colour-treated hair from fading. For up to 90% colour retention even after 30 washes. BC hairtherapy with Color Save Complex prolongs colour intensity and protects the hair structure against UV rays. Amino Cell Rebuild technology recovers the hair's natural elasticity by strengthening the architecture in the hair cell.

Application: Work into wet hair and rinse out after 2 minutes. Salon exclusive.

Color Save Colored Ends mends split ends of colour-treated hair and prevents them from reforming. BC hairtherapy with Color Save Complex and Amino Cell Rebuild technology seals the cuticle, helps to protect colour from fading and repairs inside the hair cell. For smoothed ends full of long-lasting colour vibrancy and shine.

Application: Work sparingly into the ends. Do not rinse. Salon exclusive.

My verdict? When I first used the shampoo & conditioner I did a double shampoo (I had been wearing shine spray & serum and felt like I need a thorough cleanse) and then applied the conditioner all over. For my hair type, this was way too much. My hair looked and felt amazing after I'd dried it, but I needed to wash it again the next evening. So, on my next attempt, I did one shampoo and only applied the conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends (steering well-clear of my roots!) This was much better. I think that if you suffer from very dry hair (if you have bleached blonde/highlights for example) then applying all over would be great for you.

I've also been using the Colored Ends treatment and this makes my hair seriously shiny. I was conservative and used a pea-sized amount, rubbed it between my palms and smoothed it on quickly.

I was also sent some other goodies...

Along with the above-mentioned products, I got sent Herbalife Radiant C Face Quencher (an instant refreshing mist for your skin - it certainly does!), Clynol Look At Me Glitz Shine Serum (50ml - fabulous serum for adding serious shine & colour protection) and Schwarzkopf OSiS+ Dust It Texture Mattifying Powder (this works in the same way as any volumising powder, but with a slightly more mattifying effect).

If you would like to purchase any of these products for yourself, you can buy Schwarzkopf products from selected salons and Clynol products from www.beautybay.com or www.hairsupermarket.com or, you can visit www.clynol.com

The Color Save range costs £9.30 (shampoo), £10.45 (conditioner) and £11.80 (coloured ends). You can find your nearest Schwarzkopf stockist/salon here.

I shall still be remaining loyal to my current hair products, but I love having a choice of products to mix & match : ) Have you tried any of these products? x

FOTD, Skincare Routine & a mini MAC Haul!

I've been very neglectful of my blog this week. I was planning on doing a post last week, but we had problems with our internet connection and the problem only got fixed this morning. So, to make amends, please accept my apologies and this extra-long blog post : )

First up, a FOTD...

This look was created using:

* Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions liquid foundation ~ Fresh Ivory
* MAC Pro Longwear Concealer ~ NW20
* MAC powder blush ~ Well Dressed
* MAC MSF ~ Soft & Gentle
* MAC Fluidline ~ Blacktrack
* MAC Plushlash mascara
* MAC lipstick ~ Creme Cup
* MAC lipstick ~ Myth (worn underneath Creme Cup)

I like this look and I am in love with Plushlash & Creme Cup...

Plushlash is such a lovely mascara - glossy, intense black and layers without clumping. I bought it in Plushblack, but they also do it in brown.

Creme Cup is a beautiful pink and the cremesheen formula moisturises without drying. It also compliments Well Dressed nicely : ) Plushlash & Creme Cup were purchased last Friday along with another MSF...

This was taken with the flash and it shows Creme Cup as a "dirty" pink. MAC describe Creme Cup as a "light blue pink". I'm between NW15 & NW20 and this is a great pink for me. It can be toned down with Myth or amped-up with a pink gloss. I also tried it with NARS Turkish Delight gloss and the two work nicely together. I also got another MSF (my second one this year!) and it is my daily staple for creating a gorgeous glow. If they discontinue this, I will throw myself on the floor of my local MAC counter and cry!! ; )

Finally, this is my current skincare routine...

From left to right: Cleanse & Polish, Skin Tonic, Gentle Face Exfoliator, Skin Repair Light Moisturiser

Liz Earle products are doing wonders for my skin right now. I started off using their Daily Essentials range (Cleanse & Polish, Skin Tonic & Skin Repair) and after a few weeks of using this amazing trio, I've introduced a scrub.

So that I don't dirty my Muslin Cloths, I use cotton wool to remove my eye make-up. I also have my cloths on rotation and wash them every couple of uses. I've actually only got a little bit left of the Cleanse & Polish, so I shall be ordering some more online this afternoon. I think I also need some Skin Tonic, so my order could get quite long!

If you would like to know more about these products, the Liz Earle website is great and will tell you all you need to know. I'm planning on doing a separate review on the Gentle Face Exfoliator, so watch this space!

Last but not least, I am also loving Clarins Beauty Flash Balm...

This is a mini 5ml tube and I have lots of these (thanks to a generous friend!) and it's a great base for make-up. My skin is oily on the T-Zone (forehead, nose & chin) and this tightens my pores. I would use it every day, but it's not advisable because the effects won't be noticeable. Therefore, I am trying to be strict and only using it once or twice a week. This is the only downside to this product - it gets very mixed reviews, so if you're looking to try it for the first time, get a sample first.

Sorry about the mega-long post - I wanted to share these things with you and decided to combine them. Hope you're having a great Easter and eating lots of chocolate! : ) x

FOTD with MAC Cremeblend Blusher...

I meant to do this post at the weekend, but I didn't wear the blusher - oops! So, I took a photo before leaving for work this morning...

This is one of MAC's new cream blushers, which I bought on my shopping trip to Bristol a couple of weeks ago.

I chose 'So Sweet, So Easy' and it really is both of those things!

This is how it looks in the pan without the flash. It disappeared when I used the flash! The colour is actually hot-pink (how it appears on my cheeks) and it goes on like a dream.

For today's FOTD, I used:

Face

* Clinique Anti-Blemish liquid foundation
* Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer pressed powder (t-zone only)
* MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (under eyes & around nose)
* MAC Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet So Easy
* MAC MSF in Soft & Gentle (on forehead, nose & chin)

Lips

* MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick
* MAC Myth lipstick

Eyes

* MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
* Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara in Black

I applied the blusher with a Pout blusher brush. The short bristles mean that dabbing the blusher on takes no time at all. If I use my fingers, it takes ages to build up the same intensity. Seeing as I'm short on time in the morning, this method is perfect. The colour also lasts all day, so it's well-worth £17. I'm tempted to check out the other colours in the range, but they're limited edition, so I'd better be quick : )

I've always been wary of cream blushers in the past, but using Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions as a base ensures that I get the coverage I need and by dabbing the product on top with a brush means I don't wipe off any of the foundation. Plus, I get to "set" my foundation on my t-zone, so I get the best of both worlds! I really recommend doing that if you have combination skin like me.

I hope you're having a good week so far - I promise to be a better blogger this week! x

10 Things That Make Me Happy - Part 3!

I realise this post is a week late - sorry! The days are flying by (thanks to being super-busy at work) and I don't know where the time goes. I can't believe it's Friday again tomorrow and that Easter is next weekend! Roll on my birthday in July ; )

Anyway, here is Part 3 of my 10 Things That Make Me Happy!

1. Fabulous Notebooks from Smythson

These are THE go-to stationers if you're looking for fabulous, luxury notebooks and stationery. They also make amazing handbags! I love my pink Smythson notebook, but I'm lusting after some of their fabulous new notecards & envelopes!

2. Leopard Print

There are only certainly types of leopard print I like and this is one of them. For me, it has to look "real" and not at all like Scary Spice! I would love to get my hands on this fabulous scarf from Louis Vuitton. I love how it has hot-pink lettering on it, which makes a great contrast against the tan & black. I think this scarf is the least that Coleen deserves for putting up with Wayne!!

3. Ballet Flats in Every Colour

I wish this was my collection of ballet flats! They are my favourite type of shoe... comfy, dressed up or down, and in any colour/print you can imagine. They can also be worn all day, which is a great bonus : ) I must own about 30 pairs of ballet flats as I love to have a pair to suit any outfit.

4. Jacuzzi Bathtub

This would be my dream bathtub! It's a jacuzzi in the bathroom - what's not to love?! Throw in a sea view and that would make my perfect bath : )

5. My Cats

I actually have 3 cats, but Achilles isn't as friendly as Mischief (black cat) & Princess! When I've had a long day and I come home to their little faces, it makes me smile : )

6. Krispy Kreme Donuts

I adore glazed Krispy Kreme donuts! The nearest place to my home that sells these is a large Tesco an hour away. This is just as well... a large box like this can cost quite a bit, plus they're empty calories. Bad combination!!

7. Going to the Cinema

I love going to watch the latest releases - especially Disney and animated! : ) I try not to drag my husband along to these type of films, so we both compromise and choose something we can both watch. I really enjoy settling into my seat with a jumbo popcorn and switching off for a couple of hours.

8. Spring!

This is such a cute image! I love Spring, as it represents warmer weather, cute baby animals and new flowers springing up. It also means summer is getting closer, which is just what we all need after the cold spell.

9. Ice Cream

A good ice cream makes me very happy! My current favourite is Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough - yum! Give me a tub of that & I am a happy bunny : )

10. Coke

If I'm going to drink Coke, then it has to be full-fat (I hate Diet Coke!) and from a glass bottle. I buy a pack every week and I love to drink one chilled from the fridge - bliss!

So, there's another 10! More to follow next week : ) x

Liz Earle Men's Cleanse & Polish Review

As you know, I've been using Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for the past few weeks now and I love it. I've never known a product that claims to remove all your make-up and actually live up to that claim! Considering it only costs £13.25 for a starter kit, it's doubly impressive.

After hearing me raving about it and seeing what it does, my husband was intrigued to try the men's version (not that he wears make-up, but he was impressed with how it removed mine!)

It arrived beautifully wrapped...

I love how the men's products come wrapped in aubergine-coloured tissue paper and women's products come in a duck-egg blue. There is such attention to detail, which really makes the products look more expensive than they are.

He got the Starter Kit and here's how it looks...

The packaging is also purple - purple-trimmed cloths and a mini wash-bag. The Cleanse & Polish bottle itself is a taupe colour, which I love as it makes a great contrast against the purple.

He has been using it for a couple of weeks now and he likes using it. He finds it a cinch to use and the scent is pleasant. I don't know about you, but if your other half is anything like my husband, he likes his products to be simple and functional. No faffing about or "girlie" scents ; ) He uses 1 pump in the morning and then 1 pump at night.

If you're looking for a skincare gift for the discerning man in your life, I can really recommend this. I think it looks much better than the usual men's products you see on sale and the understated packaging gives it a really luxurious look. It will seem as though you've spent a lot on the gift when you actually haven't! : )

The Starter Kit is a great buy at just £13.25 and if you'd like to treat your boyfriend / husband / brother / dad / friend then you can buy it here.

Will you be treating the man in your life to some Cleanse & Polish? x

* Although this product was sent to me for review, I was not paid to do so and all words are my own *

FOTD Friday...

I was planning on doing part 3 of my '10 Things That Make Me Happy' blog post tonight, but in all honesty, it has been a heck of a week. Therefore, I decided to show how I did my makeup today...

For this look, I used:

Face

- MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NW20 (applied with brush)
- MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 (under eyes & around nose)
- L'Oreal True Match powder
- NARS powder blush in Deep Throat
- MAC MSF Soft & Gentle

Eyes

- NARS eyeshadow in Nepal
- MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner in Blacktrack (upper & lower waterline)
- Rimmel Lash Accelerator mascara in Black

Lips

- Body Shop lip butter in Coconut
- Benefit Lip Plump
- MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick
- MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipgloss

Excuse the slightly tired expression - I got up at 6am and I took this just before 8am!!

Nepal is my new favourite eyeshadow... it's a stunning colour and a light sweep is all that's needed to perk my eyes up and make the blue 'pop'. It must be a popular product as I bought the last one from the SpaceNK counter in Harvey Nichols. If I see another one, I'm snapping it up!

I'm also really pleased with how Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is clearing up my skin. It's made my skin so smooth and my foundation now glides on (thanks to a light layer of Skin Repair Light - a great base for makeup btw!) I find that I'm needing less & less concealer and there are minimal marks on my skin. I also LOVE Studio Fix Fluid!! I think I have tried pretty much every MAC foundation, but this is my current favourite.

Hope you've all got something lovely planned for the weekend x

Haul of Plenty!

When I went out last Friday, I went shopping to 2 different places - Bristol & Bath. Both places have an amazing choice of shops and each one has a MAC counter & SpaceNK! Without further ado, here's what I got...

Kerastase Chroma Sensitive Cleansing Balm

I have just used this and I love it already : ) I had my hair done on Saturday, so I have to use this for the next 3 washes. As you don't need conditioner afterwards, it's going to save me lots of time. Result! I'm almost tempted to buy another one as back-up!

NARS & ZOYA Nail Polishes

On the left is 'Arabesque' by NARS and 'Ali' by ZOYA is on the right. This photo does not really do either of these gorgeous nail polishes justice!

'Arabesque' is a beautiful rose-gold glittery polish and 'Ali' is a hot-pink.

This photo is a little clearer to how the colours look in real life. The glitter particles in 'Arabesque' seem to be perfectly round and create such a gorgeous shimmer. I'm still wearing 'Malaysian Mist' by OPI and I think that a coat or 2 of 'Arabesque' over the top would look fabulous. 'Ali' is a true neon-pink and I can't wait to wear it. It's not a work colour, so if I wear it one weekend it will have to come off by Monday : )

MAC & NARS Goodies

I got 3 eyeshadows - Satin Taupe, Sable & All That Glitters, a Pro Palette to put them in, Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20, Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NW20, NARS eyeshadow in Nepal and one of MAC's new cream blushes - Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet, So Easy. I wasn't intending to buy this blush, but the salesgirl was wearing it and it looked amazing...

The above photo was taken without the flash and the main photo was taken with the flash. The pigmentation is amazing and although it's a hot pink, it looks so lovely on.

I was planning on getting a lipstick in 'Playing Koi' from their new Quite Cute range, but that doesn't hit counters until Thursday. I think the salesgirl said this Thursday, but it could be next Thursday!

Ma Bar Bubble Bar from LUSH

I had a good look round LUSH and this was the only thing I fancied buying. I've already used a chunk of this and it smells lovely. I didn't get anything else as I have a tonne of other LUSH goodies to use up and I don't want to let them go to waste.

I also got some clothes in the GAP sale - a t-shirt, trousers for work & a pair of patent-pink flats, some gloves from Topshop (which I wanted when they were full-price and they were a bargain at just £1 a pair!), a box of 15 cookies from Ben's Cookies, and some toiletries from Boots (razor blades, Sanctuary Bath Soak and some Nivea Body Lotion for my mum).

Hope you all had a great weekend x

I Finally Had The Guts To Do It...

As you will know from previous posts, my hair is long. Too long in fact. It was getting to the stage where I was having to tie it back and even then only a ponytail or plait would do. It was too heavy to wear pinned up all day and I was getting fed up with the lack of volume. Therefore, I went for something a little different at the hairdressers today...

It may still look long, but it now comes just past my shoulders instead of a couple of inches above my waist. I actually had 7" cut off!! This is the shortest I have had my hair since I got married in 2006.

My hair feels so much lighter and it's going to save me so much time - not to mention how much further my shampoo & conditioner will go! : )

This shows the depth of my layers. I also had a choppy side fringe and a top-up of a rich chocolate-brown colour. I'm hoping to have some caramel highlights, but as my hair has so much colour in the mid & end sections, it needs to be lifted bit by bit.

It's going to take a lot of getting used to. I actually miss my long hair. When it had just been coloured, trimmed & blow-dried, it looked amazing, but it was hard work to keep it like that. I also couldn't use any products to give volume as the weight of my hair just pulled it down. I feel lighter and better for it! : )

I was planning on doing a haul post tonight, but after having had an eventful week (to say the least), I decided to blog about my hair. I went shopping yesterday and got lots of lovely things... lots of MAC make-up, a NARS eyeshadow, Kerastase Chroma Sensitive Cleansing Balm, NARS nail polish in Arabesque, a 'Ma Bar' from LUSH, clothes from GAP, accessories from Topshop and a nail polish from ZOYA. I looked at the Topshop make-up items I wanted and they were a big disappointment... all of them had little to no pigmentation, so I spent my cash elsewhere. I'm planning on doing a haul post soon with these goodies, so keep your eyes peeled : )

Hope you're having a great weekend so far x
