Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint is coming in August!!

When I got told about this product that Liz Earle will be bringing out in August, I was VERY excited!

This is Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint

It's a skin thing...

I'm sorry I can't show you more, but it's shrouded in secrecy!

However, I shall be trying some 1 month before it's UK release date, so the minute I get it, you will be the first to know :)

The product has been 3 years in the making and I cannot wait to try it.

If you would like to register online so that you can be among the first people to know about it, then just go to www.lizearle.com/makeup

I was planning on posting about some amazing Liz Earle products that I was sent recently, but my camera is playing up :( I will try and get it fixed by the weekend - I have so many posts to do I don't know where to start! x

My Latest Haul...

I meant to post this yesterday, but it was so hot travelling back from Reading that I felt really sleepy! I managed to take some photos, so tonight I was able to edit them and do my post properly.

The shops in Reading are pretty good. I'd recommend a trip there as the House of Fraser is huge - 5 floors! Better still, they stock all the major brands: Aveda, Bare Escentuals, Clinique and MAC plus many more. I spent most of my time in there ;) On that note, here's what I bought...

MAC products

I got 'Naked' pigment and Magically Cool Liquid Powder in 'Truth & Light'. I have wanted 'Naked' pigment for ages, but my local counter always seemed to be sold out! I swatched it and fell in love with it straight away. As the colour is intense, I'm sure this pot will last for ages.

'Truth & Light' is amazing... I have never known a powder like it. I applied it this morning and as I brushed it on, it felt like I was spritzing my face with cool water! Not what I was expecting from a powder, that's for sure! The resulting effect is a light shimmer, but you do not get much coverage. You will need to use a setting powder first and then use this as a highlighting/finishing powder.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

This is another thing I have been wanting for a-g-e-s! I spotted some on display in House of Fraser and snapped one up.

The middle photo is of the palette taken without the flash and the bottom photo is how the shades look with the flash.

I wore 'Naked' today (3rd colour from the left) and it's gorgeous. I can't wait until this weekend when I can have a proper 'play' with it ;) The Primer Potion is pretty good too - I think I shall be purchasing a full-sized one when the mini one runs out.

Mulberry Key Ring

I was beyond excited when I saw this in the sale (also at House of Fraser) for just £27! I have been lusting after a Mulberry-anything for ages, so this was perfect. The colour is called 'Petticoat White' and I love it. I'm almost afraid to use it as I don't want to get it dirty, so I haven't put any keys on it yet (how sad!) As it's Mulberry's 40th birthday, my keyring came with some goodies: a set of postcards, a sheet of stickers & a pack of badges. It also came in a gorgeous pouch & box and I was thrilled to find it came in a Mulberry bag instead of a House of Fraser sale bag! (shallow, much?) ;)

Some free samples

The first sample is 'Mr Bright' eye cream from Benefit. The jar is 2ml and I must admit that it's quite a good eye cream. I love the mini jar and will do a follow up review if I notice anything amazing.

I was also given a mini trio of Aveda Smooth Infusion products. I've been keen to try the Style Prep and there is a mini tube of this in the set :) I've got the full-sized versions of the shampoo & conditioner, but I have been thinking of getting Style Prep for ages. If I like it, I shall be purchasing the full-sized one when this runs out.

Lastly, a mini 5ml tube of Beauty Flash Balm. I love this cream, but I keep finding other things to spend my cash on! At £28.50 for 50ml it's not cheap, but I'm planning on buying a full tube next month.

Bliss Hand Cream Duo

This was another House of Fraser bargain at just £4 (instead of £8). It comes with 2 tubes of handcream - 1 Blood Orange & Pepper and 1 tube of Intensive Manicure. I love Bliss products and this was a great deal.

Dove & Nails Inc

At selected Boots stores, you get a free Nails Inc nail polish with the purchase of any 2 Dove deodorants (350ml or 50ml roll-on). I chose 'Copacobana', which is a gorgeous coral shade. There was also a pinky colour, but this was much more eye-catching.

So, that was my haul! I hope you had a great weekend too x

My Nude Nail Polish Collection & Hair Growth Update!

I realise that the title of this blog post is a bit strange, but bear with me! :)

I'll start with my nude nail polish collection...

This is my small-ish collection of nude-coloured nail polishes and there are some that I love more than others.

From left-right:
* Leighton Denny for Urban Retreat: UR Natural
* Nails Inc/Diet Coke: Caramel
* Topshop: Big Smoke
* Leighton Denny: Supermodel
* Nails Inc/InStyle: Fashion Fawn
* Barry M: Mushroom
* Chanel: Particuliere

As I say, it's not the biggest collection of nude polishes in the world, but I think it's a nice "capsule wardrobe" of colours :)

Without a doubt, my favourite is Particuliere. There's just something about it that no other polish - despite their claims of being a "great dupe" - comes close.

The photo was taken with the flash (hence the blinding beams coming off the bottles!) but this is how they appear in the bottle.

I've just taken off "Supermodel" and am toying with the idea of teaming OPI Malaysian Mist with NARS Arabesque. Bit of a risk as Malaysian Mist is a gorgeous glowing nude/pink and Arabesque is a chunky rose-gold glitter! Hopefully it'll pay off - if not, it's coming straight off! ;)

Finally, I wanted to post a little update about my hair...

Back in April I had 7 (yes, seven!) inches cut off my hair. It was a shock to my system, I can tell you! I'm glad I took the plunge as my hair felt much better for it and volumising products actually worked. However, I was soon missing having longer hair. To me, it felt really short, but when I tied it back I could barely feel the weight.

This is how it looked before I had the 7" cut off...

Looks great, but boy did it weigh me down!!

This is how it looked after the chop...

Big difference, right?! I felt naked in the hairdressers!!

And now, 2&1/2 months on, this is how it looks...

Excuse the photo - I just took it! I'm not that washed-out in real life - I just really liked it for some reason :) FYI... I'm wearing MAC Myth & MAC Underage (lips), MAC Well Dressed (cheekbones) & MAC Plushlash mascara :) Hoodie is from GAP x

Just to clarify, it's grown 4"!!! After the cut, it was sitting just past my shoulders. My layers were also just below my jawline, whereas they now come down to my collarbone.

I'm amazed that it's grown so quickly. My hair always has grown fast, but I think I must be producing some kind of superhuman hair-growth-hormones as the growth equates to about 1&1/2" of growth a month! My nails are the same... they typically grow about 4-5mm a week! When I used to have acrylic nail extensions, I had to have them infilled once a week and a new set every 6 weeks - they used to just grow off and my nail technician had never seen anything like it! Needless to say, that got very expensive and I don't think it would have been good for my nails in the long term.

Thank you for indulging me in this hybrid post - I hope it was interesting for you x

I shall be going to Reading on Sunday, so a haul post will follow. Shops on my "to visit" list include MAC, ZARA, LUSH, Topshop & Boots, so keep your eyes peeled for that :) x

New Schwarzkopf OSiS+ Hair Products Review

Are you going to any festivals this year? Do you love Glamping (that's Glam Camping dahlings!) If you're not, but you're looking to try new hair products, I can really recommend these two...

Both products are from Schwarzkopf's OSiS+ range. On the left is 'Refresh' and 'Pump My Curls' is on the right.

When I was asked if I wanted to try these, I jumped at the chance. I am on the hunt for the perfect dry shampoo, but this has evaded me so far. I purchased the new Batiste one (with a hint of colour) and that was awful. Too thick, ash-grey (certainly not dark brunette) and that tell-tale "dry shampoo smell". It was far too thick and just didn't refresh my hair at all. This dry shampoo is different. When I tried it for the first time, I immediately noticed the fresh scent - not a "dry shampoo smell" in sight! Instead, it reminds me of the shampoo and conditioner that you get in a salon (perfumed, but not unpleasantly so) and the spray is very light. It left my hair clean & freshly-scented in an instant. It took no time at all to rub in, which is perfect for when you're short on time.

The can is 100ml and is called - to give it its full title - Refresh Dust Texture Bodyfying Dry Shampoo Light Control. Phew!

The press release sums this product up perfectly...

Be more VIP than mosh pit with this refreshing on-the-go styler. The 1st OSiS powder-to-spray giving incredible body back to lacklustre hair. This innovative re-bodyfying spray is a festival must-have to achieve hair that looks freshly washed without suffering those dreaded campsite showers!

Priced at £11.60, this is pricey but well worth it.

Last but not least is Pump My Curls

When I first used this, I put far too much on. This left my hair quite weighed down, so my second attempt saw me using it a lot more sparingly!

'Pump My Curls' is a defining spray-to-cream that defines waves/curls and provides ultra-strong hold.

Pump My Curls is the first pump spray that transforms into a workable wonder cream to tame the most rebellious partied out curls! Perfect for recreating that laidback, boho vibe as worn by the likes of Taylor Swift. Hair will be left velvety soft and touchable with a feathery, weightless finish and super curl definition so you can rock out in style.

I certainly agree... when left to its own devices, my hair is quite wavy. This left my waves sleek, super-soft and they held all day. I normally have to use a tonne of serum/shine spray if I've left my hair to dry naturally, so this enables me to have that effect without the effort.

This comes in a 120ml can and costs £11.05

If you think these products would work wonders for you, they can be bought from www.schwarzkopf.co.uk your nearest salon or www.hairsupermarket.com

Have you tried either of these products? x

Sunday Photos & A *Little* Wish List!

Happy Sunday everyone! I won't waste time waffling... here are some photos...

Mug of White Tea

This photo just doesn't show how massive this cup is! I got it from Laura Ashley and it's flippin' huge! :) I would say this is an oversized teacup (rather than "greedy woman's mug")! My brew of choice was Clippers Organic White Tea. Just the thing to help digest my breakfast :)

Princess!

Although shy around other people, in front of the camera he is a show-off! I discovered (after a trip to the vet to get his talons, I mean claws, clipped) that he is part Abyssinian! Again, this photo does not show how massive he his. The other part of him is Mackerel Tabby and I love him. Princess by name, Princess by nature!!

New Flat

This is the view from my sofa... The top window is taller (by about half) and it floods light into the flat. We also have this type of window in the bedroom :) The wicker dome is Princess' bed/carrier basket and is made of wicker. It's the only one he can fit in! The blue oversized footstool was a gift from my mum and it came from Habitat. The flat is gorgeous and life is good - it's certainly been a long time coming I can assure you! :)

Finally...

A Little Wish List

I love the jeans, but I can't decide between pink and turquoise! I think I shall try them on before making a decision. The contrast between the pink and beige looks great and I love how unique it would look with some skinny jeans. I hope it's as nice on! Lastly, I love the t-shirt for one obvious reason ;)

topshop.com

This scarf is gorgeous and just £16 from Topshop! It reminds me of another scarf I'm lusting over from Louis Vuitton, but until I have a spare £500, this will have to do!

maccosmetics.co.uk

MAC Magically Cool really appeals to me. I'm not sure which shade I'll get, but I'm more than willing to spend time swatching to find out!

I need to find more work trousers (after ruthlessly getting rid of all the size 12 ones which are far too big!) and now I only have 4 pairs! I'll go to ZARA, Topshop & GAP to try and find more pairs - wish me luck! ;) I also need to visit LUSH and stock up on Bubble Bars :)

I'm going to Reading next weekend and plan on visiting The Oracle shopping centre. Have you been there? Is it a good place to shop? x

Perfect for Fathers Day... Liz Earle Men's Face Scrub...

Getting your dad a gift for Fathers Day isn't always easy, is it? Although my dad is no longer alive, I never know what to get my father-in-law. Like most men, he is difficult to buy for and I think the same old socks/chocolates combo is dull! If you're stuck for ideas, how about this?

Liz Earle Men's Face Scrub

With Father’s Day just around the corner, celebrate how great your dad is with the ideal gift solution: a selection of carefully edited botanical grooming essentials from Liz Earle Naturally Active Men’s Skincare.  For the dad who has all the ties, tools and electric gadgets known to man, this year select a gift he’s sure to enjoy from the award-winning Naturally Active Men’s range which harnesses the finest quality naturally active ingredients in products that are easy to use, and leave skin clear and clean, making dads (and mums) everywhere happy!

I was sent one to try (not me, obviously!) and it arrived beautifully wrapped (as always)...

I love how the women's range comes wrapped in purple tissue paper and the women's items come wrapped in pale turquoise.

I also really like the colour of the tube - I adore anything taupe!

The Naturally Active Men’s Face Scrub will ensure your dad’s skin is as smooth and blemish-free as he could ever want. The scrub helps clear blocked pores which can cause blemishes, bumps and ingrown hairs. Its antibacterial formula contains purifying eucalyptus oil and rosemary, in addition to exfoliating pumice to smooth away dead skin cells for healthy-looking skin. Great after cleansing or shaving once or twice a week, your dad will be forever grateful for his effortlessly smooth skin.

This is also the perfect gift for your dad if he likes a no-fuss skincare routine (or, you'd like him to have one!)

If you'd like to treat your dad to this, you still have time! Head to your nearest Liz Earle counter at selected John Lewis stores or you can buy it online. This 75ml tube is priced at £12.25 or you can purchase a 30ml tube for just £6.65.

Alternatively, why not treat him to a Shave Essentials Kit? This contains a 100ml tube of Sensitive Shave Cream, a 50ml tube of After-Shave Moisturiser, 1 towelling cloth and a purple Hanging Wash Bag. Costing a very reasonably-priced £28.35, this makes a perfect gift.

What will you be buying your dad this Fathers Day? I'm planning on baking some cupcakes (with my "secret recipe" frosting!) You don't have to spend a lot on your dad to show him much he means to you x

New Flat, New Make-Up Storage!

To make up for the shocking lack of blogging, this is my way of making it up to you. Thank you for continuing to follow my blog and leave lovely comments - I will try and do better! :) We are now settled in our gorgeous new flat, I am really enjoying my new job and I am getting used to the 5.45am alarm call during the week! (I need to be at work by 8am, so it's essential!) So without further ado, I hope you enjoy my latest post...

Before I moved, I had a massive clear-out. Once I had established what I was keeping, I decided to purchase some new storage for the items I was keeping. As I am keen to find the perfect drawers, I decided to get these from Argos until I find them (please excuse my bag of underwear propped against them!) ...

This is not full-sized btw ;) At just £12.99 each, they were a bargain and they (just!) keep all my items.

There are 6 drawers in total and I keep 2 baskets on top...

These contain my skincare essentials (left) and the basket on the right has Aveda Hand Cream, my Ped Egg, deodorants, face wipes & 2 hair-bands. I also store my jewellery chest on top and my Clarisonic.

The first drawer contains hair products...

There's 2 more layers of products underneath these, so despite being compact, each drawer holds a lot!

The second drawer contains perfume, sample sachets & (randomly!) a couple of pens...

As you can see, my perfume collection is all Marc Jacobs! I have Lola Velvet, Gardenia Splash, Daisy and Lola purse spray (in the pouch). The sample sachets are all Dermalogica. As I have got rid of so many perfumes, I have room to buy more ;) I have my eye on a couple of scents from Jo Malone and Tom Ford Black Orchid. I think I can justify getting them seeing as I have some room ;)

The third drawer below stores nail varnish, buffers, files, etc...

I sold about 15 bottles of nail polish before I moved and this is what I was "left with" ;) I didn't part with any of my NARS or CHANEL polishes, just the "fashion" colours that I just didn't wear.

Then there are the drawers on the right! The first drawer contains body products...

I have a few things left over from LUSH (Snow Fairy, It's Raining Men and Sweetie Pie), Aveda Rosemary Mint Hand & Body Wash, body lotions (Body Shea Whip, Sanctuary Body Butter, Kiehl's Creme de Corps), body scrubs, shower gels (Bliss & Original Source) and a new pack of Gillette Venus Spa Breeze razor blades. See how much fits in one drawer? :)

The middle drawer is where I store misc body products & skincare items...

I keep my back-up stash of Liz Earle products in here along with other bits & pieces that I couldn't get in the other drawers. The blue bottle with the clear lid (bottom right-hand corner) is from Rodial and it's called Skinny Beach (love the name!) It's a tanning lotion and it was a total bargain at just £5 in the TK Maxx clearance sale!! It hadn't been used either, so I can't wait to slather it on this summer :)

Finally (*deep breath*!) the bottom drawer is where I keep my make-up...

On the right is my MAC lipsticks & lipglosses. On the left, I keep my blushers and compact powders (they're a bit dusty from where I dispense my Bare Minerals powder - oops!) I got rid of a lot of things (and used up a few things that were almost empty) so this is what's left.

This is pretty minimal (for me!) but from now on I will only be buying good quality (i.e. non-drugstore). I find that cheaper make-up irritates my skin, so I am no longer going to waste my money on cheap items. I only ever end up using them once and then getting rid of them because they just don't work. I daren't think of all the money I've wasted over the years!!

Lastly, the magazines in the UK are giving away some great freebies right now. This happens every so often and this time Harpers and Glamour have given away some great things.

First up is Harpers...

Out of the 3 colours they were giving away (one bottle free per issue) I chose this red (Viva La Diva) and a gorgeous taupe (Supermodel).

These are 2 of Leighton Denny's best-selling shades and I have wanted Supermodel for a long time. I saw it on QVC (don't judge me!) and it looked so glossy and gorgeous. I lemming towards any taupe shade, so I knew this had to be mine :) I got Viva La Diva first and have been wearing it all week. It's a lovely red with a hint of tomato, so you need this if you're looking for a classic red. Each issue of Harpers cost £4.20 and the polish is worth £11 (both are full-size).

Lastly, Glamour really came up trumps...

Every so often, Glamour give away Benefit products. First there were lipglosses (many years ago!) and then recently the pencils. This time they've excelled themselves and gave away mini bottles of High Beam, Posie Tint and Benetint.

I decided to buy High Beam and Posie Tint, as they are my favourites. It takes me ages to get through a full-sized bottle, so these should last a while. At just £2 for the magazine, they're certainly worth it. I'm tempted to buy another one of each and get a Benetint to complete the set!

Did you get any of these great freebies? x

And The Winner Is...

I am truly sorry for the 2 week delay in announcing the winner of my May Giveaway...

I moved house and had no internet for over a week. Moving house is stressful and time consuming (and so is finding the right internet package!)

So, without further ado, I shall announce the winner. I used random.org to generate a number and here's the result:

The lucky winner is Carla! Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who entered x

Her first choice of MAC lipstick was Ravishing, which is a great choice :)

I'm planning on getting back into blogging soon. I really miss it and would hate to let my hard work (so far) go to waste. I don't want my posts to be boring, so I'm trying to think of something interesting to kick off my blogging again. Please watch this space! x

An Apology...

I'm sorry that I haven't been blogging these past few days...

We moved house this past weekend and we do not have a reliable/constant internet connection (yet!) Therefore, regarding the giveaway, I hope to announce the winner by this weekend. As I'm having to use the internet at work on my lunch break, I am unable to update my blog in the way I normally do.

Thank you for your patience - normal blogging service shall resume as soon as possible! x
