Project 10 Pan Update...

I started my own version of 'Project 10 Pan' nearly 3 weeks ago and I decided to start with body scrubs, body lotions, etc.

To recap I decided to try and use up:

* Palmers Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
* Body Shop Shower Gels (cherry, lemon, shea & almond)
* Marc Jacobs perfume shower gel
* Body Shop Almond Body Mist (2 of them!)
* Body Shop Shea Butter scrub
* Body Shop Brazil Nut scrub
* Nivea Shower Oil

Some of these products were easier to use up than others.

I tried to use the Palmers' Cocoa Butter as a body lotion and a foot cream. The first night I applied it all over and in the morning I didn't notice any difference! None at all. I think it might have been due to the fact that my skin wasn't dry, but I have never had that problem with body lotion before. As a foot cream it performed better, but rather than use the rest up - about 2/3 more applications - I decided to throw it away. I'm disappointed with this product as I used to like it, but I think I shall be sticking to my new favourites Kiehl's Creme de Corps and Clinique Deep Comfort Body Lotion from now on!

The Body Shop shower gels were easy to use up. I just have a little bit of the Cherry and the Lemon ones to finish now. I decided to use them as bubble bath with great results. Not only did they foam nicely but my skin felt moisturised too. Bonus! However, I shall not be repurchasing any of them as I am sticking to my a select few (more expensive ones) that I prefer. I recommend them if you're looking for a range of shower gels that smell great, lather well and leave your skin moisturised and lightly scented. Sadly, they're just not for me.

The Nivea Shower Oil was a huge disappointment. I also have the Sanctuary Shower Oil and this is a totally different product. This had been sat in my drawer and when I had my clear-out I decided to give it a try. Sadly I had to throw it away after just one use for a few reasons... Firstly, I needed A LOT of product. With the Sanctuary shower oil, I only need a couple of squirts, but with this, I needed about 10! I also couldn't tell where I had used it! It seemed to disolve instantly upon contact with water before I even managed to apply it! Not impressed. If you're looking to try a shower oil, don't go for the Nivea one, go straight to the Sanctuary one instead. It costs more, but I wasted money by getting the Nivea one!

I have also used up the other products on my 'list'. I'm glad because I completed this project earlier than I thought (I was expecting to take about a month or so) but I won't be repurchasing any of them again. I bought them because I wanted them at the time, but if I could spend that money all over again I would definitely buy other things!

Right now, I am concentrating on using the products I love and I prefer having more expensive items than a load of cheaper ones. My new mantra is 'quality over quantity' and I intend to stick to it :)

I hope you all had a great Xmas! x

Kerastase Elixir Ultime... Before & After plus an Updated Review!

I've done a couple of reviews on this product in the past 2 months, but I wanted to do a third and show some results.

Just because it's such a gorgeous bottle, here is another photo of mine...

I got this in October and I have used it 2-3 times a week ever since. So how much is left? This much!...

As you can see, most of it is left. Considering that I use 2 pumps each time on my long hair, this shows you how long a bottle will last. After 2 months of use, it's barely made a dent. This is a great result for starters! If you're worried about using it all up quickly, then don't be :) Based on my hair & usage, this will easily last me most of next year *happy face*

I am currently using it before I wash my hair. I brush my hair through, dispense 2 pumps of this into my hands, rub them together and then distribute it through the lengths and ends concentrating on any areas that might be a bit drier than others.

Then, I do a double shampoo using Kerastase Oleo-Relax (an amazing shampoo, which I cannot recommend enough). This warrants a mini review of its own right now... I have never come across a shampoo like this before! It's an amber-coloured 'clear' shampoo that's oil-based to moisturise and de-frizz. I know what you're thinking 'am oil-based shampoo?' BUT, believe me when I say that it lathers amazing well and rinses clean in no time. I can actually feel the difference in my hair even when it's still wet. I am totally in love with this shampoo and refuse to use anything else!

Next, I apply a conditioning masque. My currently favourite is by L'Oreal Professional. It's their Liss Ultime, which comes in the lilac packaging. The combination of the Elixir Ultime, Oleo-Relax shampoo and this masque means that my hair is so glossy, shiny and smooth that I have no need for any other products or reach for my straighteners. RESULT! :)) I honestly cannot recommend this trio of products enough. Combined, they nourish, moisturise, smooth, de-frizz and gloss. My hair is also so shiny that it looks like I've had a blow-dry by a professional!

To give you an idea of how this product looks on my hair, here is a before...

& here is an after...

See how the light bounces off? It's easy to demonstrate how this looks on dark hair as it's easier to reflect light. On blonde hair, I think it would give real definition and depth to highlights. Having said that, dark hair can also look dull and flat if the shade is too dark or you have too much colour build-up. The perfect look for me is hair that's both glossy and full of volume. If it's too flat, it'll look lifeless and a bit greasy. Inject some volume, amp up the gloss and you'll be transformed :)

Another thing I have noticed is that my split ends are now few and far between and my hair also feels stronger. I will continue to use this combination of products and fingers crossed I will be Kim Kardashian-esque in a few more months (my hair is almost long enough and I don't wear extensions!) :)

I bought mine from lookfantastic.com and this is also sold in Kerastase-approved salons only.

Happy Xmas! x

MAC & Nicki Minaj Pink 4 Friday Lipstick...

Image courtesy of billboard.com

As you may know, this lipstick is the highly sought-after shade, which was released by MAC to celebrate the launch of Nicki Minaj's album 'Pink Friday'.

Here is mine, which I received today...

MAC only sold this online (and at Selfridges.com) for four Friday's, starting with the 26th November and ending last Friday (17th December). In actual fact, it was only available for three of those Friday's as it was totally sold out, so they were none available on the 10th December. This might have been a marketing strategy or they were genuinely sold out, who knows? ;)

Anyway, I managed to get one last Friday. This was no mean feat... I refreshed MAC's website at 12:00 midnight and it was showing as available to buy. It then took me 15 minutes to get through the checkout process! Due to the high volume of traffic trying to purchase through the site, it made the whole thing very slow. But, by 12.15am it was mine. I was very lucky to get one, as the website then crashed and didn't come back on until 1.30am. It then crashed again and I know a lot of people found theirs deleted from their basket by the time they got to checkout.

This is a swatch without the flash...

& with the flash...

The formula is 'Satin', which I personally love. 'Myth' (my all-time favourite lipstick) is also a 'Satin' and I love the rich pigment. Some people find this formulation a bit drying, but if you use a lip balm beforehand and a gloss on top, I find that stops it becoming too dry.

Also, it's called 'Pink Friday', not 'Pink 4 Friday' as it was marketed online. It's a real 'Barbie Pink' and not for the faint-hearted! ;)

I was disappointed to find that the case just looks like a normal MAC case. In the Lady Gaga & Cyndi Lauper Viva Glam range, the cases are different and I like that as it makes them stand out. This is probably just me being picky, though :)

This is how it looks on without the flash...

& with the flash! ...

I applied this quickly for the photo, but I shall take a lot more care when I apply it to wear it out. My lips are naturally red and I put this on without Lip Erase/Lip Plump like I normally do, so this shows you how pigmented the lipstick is.

I never thought this lipstick would suit me. I have a fair skintone with a 'cool' undertone, but with the right makeup I think it might work. Fingers crossed! :)

I shall be wearing it on Xmas Day with MAC Well Dressed blusher, a hint of black eyeliner (MAC Smoulder) and lashings of mascara!

Did you get one of these lipsticks?

Happy Xmas! x

Balenciaga Paris Eau de Parfum Review...

I picked up a sample of a perfume recently and this is it...

Balenciaga Paris Eau de Parfum

Balenciaga describes this perfume as..

One of the most eagerly anticipated fragrance launches, this is the first release from the iconic couture house since 1998’s Cristobal. This floral chypre opens with a demure violet note reminiscent of springtime optimism, floral breezes and blossom. A peppery note reveals itself, swelling over mossy wood and nighttime foliage, to create a fragrance full of light yet offering glimpses of dark apertures.

Created by nose Olivier Polge, winner of the 10th Prix International Du Parfum, the signature fragrance is fronted by French beauty Charlotte Gainsbourg. Says Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière Balenciaga Paris is a “…fragrance that makes a mark and haunts the memory… a fragrance with a delicate mystery."

Containing notes of violet, violet leaves, carnation, patchouli and cedar, this perfume is both intriguing and intoxicating.

 As it's an Eau de Parfum, a couple of quick squirts is all you need. The dry down is amazing and different notes emerge. I keep sniffing my wrists and love it more each time :)

I don't think this perfume will be to everyone's taste... Initially it's very strong and all the notes come out full pelt! BUT, as it drys down, it turns into a really wearable scent. I think the trick is not to spray too much. It also might be more of an evening/occasion perfume, so if you're looking for something to wear every day, this might be too heavy. I think that if I did wear it during the day, I would be very conservative and only wear one spray!

The sample I got was only 1.2ml so I really want to get a full-sized bottle soon. They also do a matching shower gel and body lotion, which is a bonus if you're a fan of layering your scent.

As it's Christmas, Balenciaga have released some beautiful gift sets of this fragrance. They come in stylish cases, which would look gorgeous on anyone's dressing table.

Have you tried this perfume? Is one of the gift sets on your Xmas list? x

NARS Orgasm Nail Polish Review...

I have been wanting this nail polish for ages, and today I finally got it...

This is Orgasm by NARS...

I ordered it from SpaceNK and thanks to their N.centive (free bonus!) of £10 and a great promo code I found, it cost just £3 including delivery! *happy dance* :)

& here it is out of the box...

I'm also wearing it in this photo. Excuse the quality, but with the flash it looked too pale/washed out.

The colour is a beautiful peach with a fine gold shimmer. It's lighter than the blusher & The Multiple versions of this product, but it's a gorgeous shade nonetheless.

I have just applied it and I love it already. I know it's far too early to make such a bold decleration about a product, but I will make an exception with this one!

I applied 3 coats and this is how it looks with the flash...

& without...

The shade actually is more like the 'without flash' photo in the flesh, as the flash picks out the gold too much.

If you want to achieve an opaque finish, then you will need at least 3 coats. For a sheer 'pop' of colour, then 1 will be enough. I decided to go with a more opaque finish as I'm personally not a fan of sheer colours (unless it's a French Manicure pink).

A full sized bottle of this (15ml) costs £13 and I can really recommend SpaceNK if you are planning on buying it.

If anyone asks which shade I'm wearing, I might just lie and say 'it's by NARS'! This will save their blushes and mine! ;)

My order also came with 2 free samples, which was a great bonus...

Serge Lutens L'Eau perfume (1ml)

& Wei Tibetan Chrysanthemum correcting eye treatment pads (1 pack, 2 pads)

These were great samples! I love it when a company sends extras with your order :)

I have never tried either of these products before, but a quick look at SpaceNK's website told me that the perfume is £84 for 50ml and the Wei pads are £44 for 10 sachets (which each contain 2 pads) so that sample only is worth £4.40! Considering my whole order only came to £3, I was amazed that they included such great samples.

Have you tried this nail polish before? Have you received any great samples with a SpaceNK order?

If you would like the promo code I used (it gave me £5 off, which took care of their delivery charge) then please email me. I hope it will still be valid and that you too will save like I did :)

Happy Xmas! xx

A Little Update...

I thought I would do a quick post regarding the recent giveaway post I made last week.

The result? No comments! Not a single entry. I am disappointed with this outcome, especially as I had a few visitors to the post. Therefore, I think I will have to wait a while before attempting another giveaway.

This blog gets 'okay' traffic on a day-to-day basis. It's not brilliant, but then again I have only been doing it for about 2-3 months so I can't expect miracles :)

So, to anyone who reads my blog and enjoys it, please 'follow' me or leave a comment if a particular post interested you - it doesn't have to be a long, detailed one, but it would be a huge boost & useful to me in terms of knowing what people like and want.

I am trying to make a few new posts each week about products I have tried, nail polish of the day and a few reviews thrown in. However, if you would like me to post on a specific subject (a 'How To...' for example) then please contact me with any suggestions.

I'm also hoping to upgrade my camera next year so that my photos are better and I'm eventually going to put some video tutorials on here too, but it's just having the confidence to do so!

Thanks for reading :)

Happy Xmas! xx

Topshop Pillar Box Nail Polish Review...

This is a nail polish I mentioned in a post earlier this week. It's the tenth colour I have bought from Topshop and I love it!

Here is how it looks on...

This is one of Topshop's newest shades and it's called 'Pillar Box'

The above photo was taken with the flash on and in natural light it's a little darker. In just 2 coats you get a rich opaque red with a glossy finish.

A full-sized bottle costs £5 and it is a cinch to apply. I used 'Under & Over' as a base & top coat and I'm sure this goes a long way in helping the colour to 'stick'.

These are my own natural nails. I used to wear acrylic nail extensions years ago, but I now have my own nails and I couldn't be happier :) It took a long time to get them like this (2 years to be exact) and now I love the fact that I can maintain them myself and not have to get infills every 2 weeks! Yes, my nails grow that fast :) My nails are now strong, healthy and I have totally lost my urge to nibble them! Besides, if I started biting one, it would ruin all my hard work so I think of that anytime I am remotely tempted ;)

...

This is now my favourite red. As I have a 'cool' skintone, some shades of red look plain weird on me, but I love this. Topshop also sell other shades, but I was drawn to this one. Fingers crossed my local store will stock more shades of red soon as some of the others on their website look very interesting.

If you're looking for a new red nail polish to try - very festive! - then look no further than this.

Check out this polish here!

Umberto Giannini Backcomb In A Bottle & other goodies!

This is my can of Umberto Giannini Glam Hair Backcomb In A Bottle...

I wanted to try this product for myself as there is quite a buzz about this on beauty blogs right now.

The can is 200ml and it's for creating that so-hard-to-do-yourself backcombed effect - minus using a comb!

I was lucky enough to get the last can at my local Boots' store and I also got £2 off thanks to their current promotion, making it a total bargain at just £3.49 :)

I have tried this once and I love it! My hair is long and for me to backcomb it myself would be a total nightmare - I would probably get the comb stuck! This product makes it so easy to do. I just section my hair off, spray, rub my fingers through to create the volume I want and voila! The scent is also nice and light so it doesn't overpower. My hair just looks naturally volumized and effortless :)

...

I have been after a new red nail polish and found this one in Topshop...

This is 'Pillar Box' and looks like a gorgeous bright red. I shall be doing my nails this evening and I can't wait to try it.

I'm really impressed with Topshop's range of nail polish right now. A couple of the colours have been darker than I thought, but they generally last over a week with no chips. I also use their base/top coat so this may be the reason. Whatever makes it last so long, who knows, but I'm not complaining!

Another product I wanted to try for ages (and finally got!) was this...

Clinique Turnaround Body Smoothing Cream

This was a gift and I love it!

You only get 150ml in a tube, but a little goes a long way and the difference can be seen immediately.

It's a cream formula that also exfoliates. Simply apply a small amount of the cream to areas that need a bit of TLC twice a day and you should see a difference in about 1 week.

I've only been using this on my elbows, knees so far to test it out and I love the results.

If you're looking for a new body product to try, then go and get this one! :)

Lastly, I found a total bargain in TK Maxx last Sunday...

Rodial Bum Lift

This normally retails for £100 in SpaceNK/online! In TK Maxx this was just £24.99! :) This was another gift and I'm glad my eagle eyes spotted it on the shelf.

As you only get 100ml, to pay £1 per 1ml for a product is pretty pricey - especially if you then become addicted to using it!

I plan to use this at night and Fat Girl Slim in the morning, so that both products last longer. My jar of Fat Girl Slim that I ordered should be arriving any day now, so as soon as it does I can continue my routine again. Hooray :)

Have you found any bargains in TK Maxx/TJ Maxx lately? Did you manage to get a can of Backcomb In A Bottle?

I hope you're having a great week so far... I cannot believe it's only 11 days until Xmas! :) x

Update!

So, it's Friday and I am pleased to report that I am doing well in using up my products :)

Since Tuesday night, I have managed to use up almost all of the two Body Shop scrubs (thanks to my over-generous application!) as well as huge quantities of the Body Shop shower gels as bubble bath!

I also used some Palmers' Cocoa Butter body lotion and have a tiny bit left. I used to like this product a lot. Now? Not so much. Compared to lotions such as Kiehl's Creme de Corps or Clinique Deep Comfort Body Moisture, it just doesn't compare. For example, I applied the Palmers' lotion all over last night and when I woke up this morning, my skin didn't feel any different :( This was a big disappointment as I always - without fail - get great results from Kiehl's & Clinique. The smell was really noticeable and that was the best thing about it ;)

However, as a foot lotion, it was good. Perhaps it didn't work as well as I thought because my skin wasn't that dry? Who knows! I'm glad to be using it up and will be pleased when the last little bit has gone :)

The Body Shop scrubs I used (Brazil Nut & Shea Butter) both did a good job, but are two different scrubs in terms of consistency. The brazil nut one is a creamy scrub with crushed nut shells and the shea butter one is a oil-based scrub that's a lot rougher than the brazil nut one. Both are really moisturising, but the shea butter one gives a better exfoliation due to the sea salt & sugar.

I was very generous with how much scrub I used as I want to get them used up! I also feel that for the size of the tub and the brand they're a bit expensive at £12 for a 200ml tub. This may sound cheap, but you do need quite a lot to achieve a good result and if you only get 3 full-body uses per tub, then it becomes expensive. This is very different to the Clinique Sparkle Skin scrub I'm now favouring, as you only need a small amount of that so the tube I have will last a while.

I still have quite a way to go, so fingers crossed I will see it through and not give up and throw everything out!!

Products I've Got To Use Up!

When I had a mammoth clear-out of my make-up & toiletries last week, I discovered some hidden gems and some 'what the hell was I thinking?' products.

So, this has prompted me to look at what I kept and think about which products should be used up (in a kind of 'Project 10 Pan' way). So, my 10 products to use up (and NOT re-purchase) are:

* Palmers Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
* Body Shop Shower Gels (cherry, lemon, shea & almond)
* Marc Jacobs perfume shower gel
* Body Shop Almond Body Mist (2 of them!)
* Body Shop Shea Butter scrub
* Body Shop Brazil Nut scrub
* Nivea Shower Oil

There are a few other things I want to get used up aswell, but I'm going to start with these first.

When I had my sort-out, I was pretty ruthless. To give you some idea, when I cleared out my bedroom (make-up drawers/shelves, underwear, clothes, magazines, etc, etc, etc!) I managed to fill 6 bin-bags!! Eek!!

When I had decided which make-up/beauty products I wanted to get rid of, I then had to divide them into categories:

* keep & use up ASAP
* give away
* sell on eBay

Afterwards, I was left with was a great selection of beauty, hair care, make-up, perfume, etc. Now when I look at my 'collection' I see lots of great items that I can actually use. For example, instead of the 5 different cleansers I was hanging on to, I now just have 1! It's also really cleansing to have a clear-out :)

I chucked away a lot of things that I had been hanging on to 'just in case'. Other items I kept because I thought 'I'll use it sparringly so it will last' but then I never used it for that reason! Now I think about it, I wish I had had a clear-out ages ago. Oh well! ;)

My room now looks neat, tidy & organised. It makes me happy to look at it, which is a great bonus :) I'm also just going to use the products I have and enjoy doing so. I have to tell myself that if I need another one I will be able to afford it, so I should just get on and use it! Silly I know, but that's the way I think :)

As for the products I have listed above, I think I will use the Palmers' cocoa butter as a foot cream, the Body Shop shower gels as bubble bath (and lots of it!) and just try and get through the rest as soon as possible. This is not a bad reflection of the products, I just prefer using other things and they're taking up space!

Have you started a 'Project 10 Pan' of your own yet? If so, how are you getting on? x

More Products on My Wish List! ...

As I may have mentioned once or twice, I am a huge beauty product junkie! I'm always looking at new products and here are some things I'm currently lusting after...

* Balenciaga Paris EDP
* Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP
* Moroccan Oil (hair treatment oil)
* Bliss Manicure Gloves
* Bliss Pedicure Socks
* Dermalogica Ultra-Rich Body Lotion
* Prtty Peaushun
* Clinique Turnaround Body Smoothing Cream
* Dermalogica Skin Refining Masque
* Dermalogica Multi-Vitamin Skin Recovery Masque

I'm sure there are more things to add, but this is what springs to mind just now ;)

I also smelt two perfumes at the weekend, which are both getting great reviews right now.

The first one was 'Naughty Alice' by Vivienne Westwood. I love the packaging and the adverts that appear in magazines. But the smell? Yuck! To me, it smelt like a toilet cleaner/fabric softener. This is a shame as I was sure I was going to love it, but I really didn't.

The other one was Jennifer Aniston's debut fragrance. Sadly - to me - this also smelt like fabric softener. Again, the adverts look good and the press release made it sound so promising.

Both of them also smelt a little too sweet. I prefer gardenia-type scents rather than sweet/overpowering ones. For example, I love Marc Jacobs' 'Daisy' & 'Lola', but I don't like 'Blush'. Having said that, it took me a while to like 'Lola' and I didn't like it the first time I smelt it. BUT, I got some and the dry-down is lovely. I now wear it a lot! Also, I'm sure a perfume's scent has a lot to do with the person who wears it. As the woman at the perfume counter commented when I bought it 'it smells awful on me, but totally different on you'!

I have smelt the Balenciaga Paris perfume several times now and it smells so nice. I like perfumes to be different and to not smell it on someone else. This perfume is also hard to come by in stores near me, so the chances of someone else smelling of it is pretty slim :) Fingers crossed I get a bottle soon!

Has a perfume disappointed you lately? x

By Terry Baume de Rose Review...

I got a pot of this on Sunday (as a Xmas present, yippee!) and I have been using it without fail every night since.

Why oh why didn't I get this sooner? It is truly amazing and I actually look forward to putting it on after I've taken my make-up off at night.

This is my beloved little pot...

I got it from SpaceNK in Bath and the girl that I spoke to about it was so friendly and she really knew about the products (but not in a 'buy this, this & ooh, this!' type of way). She also confessed that she dabbed some on her lips every morning when she came to work! As the pot is quite expensive, I can't say I blame her :)

The smell of roses is apparent, but not in an overwhelming way. I don't mind the scent, whereas some people hate it.

The balm itself is a pretty milky-pink...

Excuse the reflection in the lid - it's just plain, I promise! When applied, it creates a nice sheen and lips immediately feel nourished and pampered :)

A few dabs of this balm is all you need, unless you're feeling very indulgent ;) I have been wearing this at night as it's described as a treatment rather than a bog-standard lip balm. Well, they do have to justify the price tag somehow I suppose!

For your money you get a 10g pot, which should last a few months. I actually got this at just the right time. I had a tiny (but still very annoying) patch of chapped skin at the corner of my mouth, which really spoiled the look of my lipstick and hurt when I yawned! Yes, I laughed too :p  I tried 8 Hour Cream, Vaseline & Body Shop Lip Butter but all to no avail. I'd still wake up and it would hurt like hell :( So, when I got the Baume de Rose, come Sunday night I was slathering it on like a woman possessed! I've read great things about this balm, but the skeptic in me thought I would try it and see for myself.

WOW! It didn't exactly perform a huge miracle, but something great happened. On Monday morning, my cracked skin didn't look so red and certainly didn't sting as much as it did. I then decided to apply it every night and now it is my little ritual every evening (remove make-up, brush teeth, coat lashes in L'Oreal Lash Serum, apply generous layer of Baume de Rose)! Fast-forward to Thursday and my patch is almost gone. This is something that NONE of my other balms/lotions/potions managed to do so I am very impressed and totally in love with it. So much so that I am thinking of using my free £10 N.centive (thank you SpaceNK!) towards my next pot! I was using Creme de la Mer The Lip Balm as a nightly treatment up to now, but this has been firmly replaced.

Have you tried this balm? Can you share a miracle of your own? x

Something strange has happened...

... but I like it! :)

As I've mentioned in previous posts, my skin is currently combination (oily t-zone & 'normal' everywhere else)

My moisturiser of choice for the last few months has been The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion and I was happy with it. BUT, I started to wonder if my skin was actually dry and that was the reason I was producing more oil. So, whilst flipping through Grazia magazine last week, I saw (another) advert for L'Oreal Youth Code Day Cream.

Now, I will hold my hands up and admit that I've never been a fan of L'Oreal as a skincare brand. Call me a snob, but I have always liked 'posh' moisturisers and never thought that L'Oreal was a brand for me. So, I now have to hang my head in shame because I LOVE this moisturiser!

Here is my pot...

I bought this from Boots on Sunday whilst shopping in Bath and thanks to my £5-off skincare voucher, it cost just £9.99 :)

The pot is 50ml and although it's sold as a Day Cream, it can be used both day & night, which is a bonus. For the past few days, I have just been using it in the morning, under my foundation.

The cream itself is a lovely texture...

It's a sort of gel-cream that feels refreshing and moisturising upon application. Also, a little goes a long way so this jar should last a while :)

I digress... So, I decided to try this in place of my Body Shop moisturiser on Monday morning. I was worried all day that I might look in the mirror and see an oil-slick half-way through the day, but no! I was amazed to say the least.

I mixed it with some MAC Strobe Cream and then applied it before my foundation. It went on smoothly and made my MAC Face & Body Foundation look really dewy and fresh, yet 'set'. I then applied my usual powder, etc and kept an eye on it during the day.

I was amazed to find that when it was time to remove my make-up at the end of the day, I had a barely-noticeable amount of shine in the middle of my forehead. Hooray! :) This is a big difference to my Body Shop one. That normally mattifies my skin until the early evening, but this kept the oil at bay for much longer.

I feel like giving myself a little kick, because I think that I tried to mattify my skin too much when it became oily. Also, skin can produce extra oil to compensate for the dryness if you use too many 'drying' products. I think that my skin started off being oily (due to hormone changes) but when that settled down (and I was still using a mattifying lotion) my skin continued to produce oil to compensate. Grr! ;)

So, I have now ditched the Body Shop lotion and will continue to use this. I am both miffed and pleased... Miffed because I wish I had switched my moisturiser & tested this out ages ago and pleased because I have now found it!

If you are looking to try a new moisturiser, I really recommend this one.

On the box it claims to:
After...
1 Hour: Skin feels smoother, rehydrated and looks more radiant
1 Week: Features appear more rested, skin tone looks more luminous
1 Month: Wrinkles appear visibly reduced. Skin looks rejuvenated

Have you tried this moisturiser for the reason I did? Do you think it lives up to its claims?

On my trip to Bath, I also got an early Xmas present and some other things. My 'haul' consisted of:

* Topshop over-the-knee beige reindeer-print socks
* LUSH Snow Fairy
* LUSH Candy Cane Bubble Bar
* LUSH L'il Xmas Pud bath bomb
* Eve Lom Muslin Cloths (pack of 3)

* NARS The Multiple in 'Orgasm'
* By Terry Baume de Rose
* MAC Strobe Cream
* MAC Blush in 'Well Dressed'
* MAC lipstick in 'Angel'
* MAC lipstick in 'Impassioned'

Phew! ;) It was a great day and made even better by the big box of Ben's Cookies I bought :)

Sorry about the long post, hope it was interesting for you x
