Jo Malone Bath Oil... Which One Shall I Choose?

I have the day off tomorrow and I'm spending it shopping with my mum. It's an early Mother's Day treat and we're going to a place that has the most shops outside of London, yet still only about an hour and a half from home. I haven't been there for ages and I can't wait to go. Today was very stressful thanks to a massive spend on the car for repairs & tax, so I need some retail therapy very badly! : )

In order to soak away stresses of the day, I'm thinking of indulging in a bath oil and one from Jo Malone really speaks to me...

I don't like my bath products to be overwhelming/musky/sickly/too strong - I prefer to inhale and enjoy rather than have to hold my breath and get a headache!

Therefore, I'm torn between Orange Blossom, Lime Basil & Mandarin or Nutmeg & Ginger. I'd love a big bottle of Red Roses, but at £38, I don't want it that much ; )

Do you have a favourite Jo Malone Bath Oil? x

Mad Men-Inspired Nail Polish Collection by Nails Inc

To celebrate the launch of MAD MEN Season 4 on DVD, Nails Inc have created 3 super-chic and ultra-glossy shades. Each limited edition polish is named after iconic locations in New York and they are a must-have for anyone who's a fan of retro-glam colours.

Brooklyn, Westchester, Madison Avenue

Each shade is perfect for work/days out/evening and they cost £11 each. I'm really tempted by all 3, but I might be restrained and just get Madison Avenue!

Brooklyn is a light pearl-nude, Westchester is a dark glossy red & Madison Avenue is a deep forest-green.

If you're a fan of Mad Men & Nails Inc, why not combine the two and buy one of these fab polishes? You can look at the shades in more detail here.

10 Things That Make Me Happy - Part 2!

I started this last week - you can read that post here - so here is my next 10...

1. Fabulous Shoes

These are fabulous shoes and they're Louboutins - what could be better than that?! I don't care if they're boots, flats or heels, I love shoes!

2. The car I WILL own one day!

Every time I see one of these cars on the road, I get goosebumps! It's my dream to own one and the thought that I might is enough to make me happy : )

3. Money

It's a shallow thing to say money makes me happy, but knowing my bills are paid & that I have cash left to go shopping makes me very happy! I also think $$$ look better than £££ ; )

4. Massages

I love nothing better than a Hot Stone Massage to help me relax and de-stress. I would have one twice a week if I could (and that would make me deliriously happy!)

5. Jo Malone Candles

I adore scented candles in general, but Jo Malone really does make the best. I love Vintage Gardenia, Pomegranate, Grapefruit and Orange Blossom. Give me one of these as a gift and you are on my 'favourite person' list ; )

6. Perfume

I have so many perfumes so I can't pick one favourite, but I'm a magpie for a fabulous scent. Certain perfumes remind me of certain times and one sniff can take me right back there. I also love having a few to choose from so that I can match my scent to my mood or any occasion. I'm always on the look out for new favourites, so please leave me a comment and tell me yours : )

7. Flowers

Who doesn't love being given the gift of flowers? This picture embodies my idea of the perfect bunch of flowers... giant blusher-pink roses surrounded by lots of little delicate ones. Nothing heavily-scented or overpowering, just beautiful!

8. Popcorn

This is one of my favourite snacks when I'm at home watching TV or a DVD. It has to be Butterkist and it has to be Salty or Toffee! A bag of this and I'm happy : )

9. Sleep

The above statement is so true! I always make sure that I get 6-7 hours sleep a night. The fact that you need 8 is a myth! Too much sleep and it can make you groggy, too little and you can't function. For me, going to bed at 11pm and getting up at 6am is just right.

10. My Job

Sadly, this is not my office! I am (not that) sorry to say that I enjoy my job. It's what pays my bills and allows me to have money to spend on the things I love. My work colleagues are nice, I can do the job well and I find that the working week goes by quickly, which is only a good sign : )

So that's my second lot of 10 things : ) Another 10 to follow next week! x

Clinique Take The Day Off Review...

As I mentioned before, I got 2 of these eye makeup removers with the recent Glamour giveaway...

I always used to use this to remove my eye makeup, but I switched to Bi-Facil from Lancome.

So which is better? In my opinion, Bi-Facil removes a lot more a lot quicker. I thought that this removed mascara easily, but Bi-Facil makes this seem like hard work : )

I decided to get 2 because my Bi-Facil is almost empty and I wanted a back-up so I didn't fall back onto wipes. I'm also using my Cleanse & Polish to remove my eye makeup (which is also fantastic) but rather than dirty the muslin cloth, I'm using cotton wool to take it off.

I'd recommend Take The Day Off if you wear quite light eye makeup, but I always prefer to use Bi-Facil or Cleanse & Polish for removing heavier makeup.

I'm trying to use these up, but I think I will keep the second one as a spare or for dipping cotton buds in to correct mistakes.

What's your fail-safe product for removing eye makeup? x

MakeUp On My Wish List!

I know I shouldn't wish my life away, but I really cannot wait until Friday 1st April! I'm taking my mum shopping for the day - as an early Mother's Day treat - and I am lusting after these 3 lovelies from SpaceNK...

Shu Uemura Shine Mystique Eye Colour in Ivy Gold...

This is such a stunning colour. I saw it used in the Spring 2011 issue of N.vision (the beauty magazine from SpaceNK) and it looked gorgeous against flawless skin, pale-pink lips & lashings of jet black mascara.

A 1.5g pot costs £15

Another product they used to create the look was:

NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Hollywoodland...

This was used to add a subtle gold definition alongside the Shu Uemura. It's described as a pale gold and the swatch above shows how it looks.

It's a jumbo-sized pencil and looks a cinch to use. They can also be layered to give a more intense colour. If it's as gorgeous as it looks, then I shall also need to get a jumbo-sized sharpener to match!

Each 4g pencil costs £16.50 and there are lots of colours available.

Finally, I want this fabulous 'Forever Yours Set' by NARS...

This is a limited edition gift set and it comes with a tube of illuminator in 'Orgasm', a medium-sized lipgloss in 'Deep Throat' and a Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in 'Aigle Noir' (a smokey black infused with gold).

I love the lipglosses and this set is the perfect way to get 3 products for less. The retail value of this would be £49 if you bought it all separately, but this costs just £35.

There are so many gorgeous gift sets by NARS that I can't decide which one I really want : ) I think I shall look at each one and if I will actually use every single item in the set it's worth getting. It's a waste of money getting a set just for 1 or 2 items.

Do you have any of these items? x

OPI Malaysian Mist Nail Polish Review...

If you love nude-coloured nail polishes, then you're going to love Malaysian Mist by OPI.

I saw this colour on a YouTube video once and I loved it so much I bought 2 bottles! I don't wear this as often as I'd like, purely because I'm trying not to use it up. However, it 'spoke' to me tonight so I gave in ; )

This is Malaysian Mist

The colour is beautiful and suits all skintones. If you like your nail colour to be opaque - and I do - then you will need 3 coats of this to achieve that. It's well worth it when you get a colour like this...

It's the perfect shade for work and it also goes with any outfit. The shade is also a great match for my beloved nude lipstick/lipgloss so if you like the matching-nails-&-lips trend that's 'in' right now, then you need this polish!

I bought mine from Sally's and I paid just £3 a bottle in their sale : ) I keep looking out for it as it's my favourite pale shade. It doesn't make me look washed out at all - it just gives nails a lovely polished glow.

Have you tried Malaysian Mist? x

A Tempting Treat from SpaceNK...

I don't know about you, but I am obsessed with lovely-scented laundry! I love my clothes to smell fresh & clean and I think I have found a new product that I'm just longing to try...

TOCCA Cleopatra Laundry Delicate

This sounds like such an indulgence and I love the retro packaging. So cute! For £13, you get an 8oz bottle and it's meant to be used for washing delicate items or for handwashing. It also claims to leave a delicate scent of grapefruit and cucumber.

I have a £5 N.Dulge gift, so if the SpaceNK store I'm visiting on Friday has this in stock, I shall be getting it for just £8! : )

Have you tried this before? I'm a little skeptical about products that make such amazing claims, but I'm also very tempted! If TOCCA make it, then I'm sold : )

If you would like to try this for yourself, you can buy it here.

MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick in Supremely Confident... Review...

When I went to the MAC counter recently, in addition to the Viva Glam Gaga 2 range, I also bought one of their newest products:

Sheen Supreme Lipstick...

I went for the shade 'Supremely Confident' which is a pale pink-nude. The above photo was taken with the flash and as you can see, it looks different to their normal lipsticks.

The lipstick itself is also a new formula. It has the feel of a balm, the look of a gloss and the coverage of a lipstick. It's perfect for you if you just want one does-it-all product.

My lips are naturally very red, so here's how it looks on me...

This is how it looks (with the flash) worn with no additional lipstick/lip plump/balm/gloss. I have tried this with Benefit Lip Plump as a base and it comes out a more nude shade. Without that, this turns a pretty pale pink. Goodness knows how I applied it this well - I didn't have my mirror to hand so I quickly applied it for photo purposes! Perhaps it's just one of those things I can naturally do after 15 years of wearing lipstick : )

One last photo...

The other shades in the range didn't appeal to me as they are mostly reds, corals, plums & pinks. This shade is the palest and the only thing close to nude.

I really like this lipstick - it's very moisturising and gives lips a nice sheen. However, as it's quite sheer, you may need to re-apply it more often that you would a normal lipstick. By wearing a base such as lip balm & Benefit Lip Plump, you'll find it will last longer. All-in-all, this lipstick gets a thumbs up from me!

Each ones costs £13.50 and you can see the full range of shades here.

Have you bought any of these lipsticks? Can you recommend any other shades? x

10 Things That Make Me Happy - Part 1!

This post is inspired by the lovely Andree from Straight Up Glam. If you haven't checked out her blog yet - what are you waiting for?! She is a lovely girl who really knows her stuff and she always leaves me nice comments. Visit her blog and tell her I sent you ; )

She recently did a post and invited others to tag along. Basically, you just list 10 things that make you happy and do this for 10 weeks until you have 100 things that make you happy. This appealed to me because it's nice to have variety in blog posts and who doesn't want things that make them happy? On that note, here are my first 10:

1. MAC Make Up

MAC is such an amazing brand... every time I get something new from there, it makes me very happy! I would love to recreate this look... This is MAC at its best and I love how different it is. The colours may clash, but when you look this fabulous, who cares?!

2. Starbucks

I'm not a coffee drinker and I mostly drink tea at home. However, get me into Starbucks and I will order a Caramel Latte and a lemon & poppy seed muffin! Just the thing after a 'hard day' shopping ;)

3. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

This is already making a huge difference to my skin and that makes me very happy! I can't wait to buy this set (which also makes me happy!)

4. The Beach

Why are there no beaches like this in the UK?! It's probably just as well that there aren't, because I would spend all my free time there : )

5. Cupcakes

I cannot get enough of dainty, well-made & beautifully iced cupcakes - heaven in a paper case!

6. Shopping

I love nothing better than retail therapy! It never fails to make me happy : )

7. Pampering

You can't beat a night of pampering in the comfort of your own home.

8. Magazines

I love taking a bath and reading a glossy magazine at the same time - double treat! : )

9. Chocolate

If it's chocolate, I like it! My favourites are Cadbury's Dairy Milk, Galaxy and Malteasers. Easter is coming up and I will be in chocoholic heaven!

10. Manicures

I love painting my nails. It makes me feel so much more 'put together'. Chipped polish and ragged cuticles are my pet peeve!

Those are my first 10 and I'm planning on doing 10 each week until I reach 100. Feel free to tag in and link us all up in the comments box! x

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Review...

I would always read great reviews on Cleanse & Polish and used to say to myself 'I'll get some'. However, this was easier said than done, because my nearest counter is a fair few miles away! I don't know about you, but I much prefer going to a store and buying products rather than shopping online.

On Saturday, I received the Cleanse & Polish Starter Kit...

A closer look at the goodies inside...

The starter kit contains: 100ml of Cleanse & Polish, 2x Muslin Cloths and a gorgeous zip-up bag to keep it all in. It also comes with a handy take-it-in-the-bathroom instruction leaflet.

It also came beautifully wrapped...

I was sent this to try and I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with it. I have never - in my many years of using skincare products - come across one that actually does what it claims to do. I have been using this since Saturday (twice a day) and I put it to the test by using it to remove a full face of makeup - gel eyeliner, mascara, blusher, foundation, powder & concealer.

I honestly wasn't expecting to be able to use it on my eyes, but I was amazed to find that not only did it work, but there was no redness or stinging.

It's also such a quick and simple product to use. To give you an idea of just how quick, my previous Clinique routine used to take 20 minutes. Using this, it now takes me just 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. Result! It takes me the same amount of time in the morning as I'm applying foundation.

I love the face that it's effortless to use. Just dispense 1-2 pumps into dry hands, apply onto dry skin (whether you're wearing makeup or not) and then gently massage it in. If you're removing makeup, apply it over your eyelids & eyelashes last so that you don't spread your mascara everywhere. Then, simply dip the muslin cloth into hand-hot water, squeeze out any excess water and wipe off the cleanser. Rinse the cloth and repeat. Voila! All done! Until I get my hands on some Skin Tonic & Light Moisturiser, I am using Sanctuary Spa Pore Refining Toner and Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion. I decided to use 'natural' products instead of trying to work my Clinique Clarifying Lotion and moisturiser into the Cleanse & Polish routine.

I'm almost at the end of my 3-Step and I am actually disappointed. My skin has not gotten any better (despite 2-3 months of consistent use) and I was still finding traces of foundation when I washed my face the next morning.

The fact that Cleanse & Polish is a bargain at just £13.25 for the Starter Kit means I'll save lots of cash. With Clinique 3-Step I need an eye makeup remover, a cleanser to remove my foundation etc & then Clinique Liquid Facial Soap. I think I've finally found my Holy Grail, does-it-all, cleanser.

The smell is divine and it contains no mineral oil. My skin is left soft & smooth and I look forward to using it.

My Starter Kit also came with some great information booklets...

The Spring Green Issue (newsletter), Product Guide & Price List

The promotional material is very well put together and it's obvious that the brand cares about their products, customers and the impact they have on the environment.

As I'm going to a John Lewis store in a couple of weeks' time, I'm planning on getting the Spring Time Must-Haves. For the bargain price of £41, this contains enough products for the perfect Cleanse, Tone & Moisturiser routine:

This is the perfect kit if you're a fan of the range as it comes with 2x Cleanse & Polish, 2x Muslin Cloths, 1x Skin Tonic and 1x Moisturiser. It also comes with a choice of 3 different moisturisers: Normal/Combination, Dry/Sensitive or Combination/Oily. The Skin Tonic and Cleanse & Polish remain the same regardless of which moisturiser you choose.

I can't wait to purchase this kit as I will then have the complete set and enough Cleanse & Polish to slather on to my hearts content : )

If you're looking to try anything from the Liz Earle range, you can visit their website here.

Are you a Cleanse & Polish or Liz Earle devotee? x

Although I was sent this Starter Kit to review, I was not paid to do so and the words in this review are purely my own.

Sunday Haul...

As I had to go food shopping this morning, I decided to pop into Boots beforehand.

I plumped for these goodies...

I got Lola by Marc Jacobs Eau de Parfum Spray in Pochette set, which looks gorgeous...

It's a new, limited edition version of LOLA and it comes with 2x 20ml vials. You simply push one into the case and pop it in your bag. Perfect for top-ups on the go!

As well as the metal case and perfume vials, it also comes with a pochette (posh word for case!)...

I plan on keeping the perfume in this case when I'm out & about so that it doesn't get scratched. The case is equal parts cute & tacky and I love it : )

Sadly, one of the vials leaked...

The one on the right was inside the metal case and the one on the left was wrapped in tissue paper. As soon as I took the cellophane off, I could smell the perfume immediately. I am both disappointed and annoyed at this - not just because the set costs £42!! I have sent an email to Coty, as I don't hold out much hope of Boots being able to help. I hope it can be sorted out soon, as I only have one vial and they don't sell spares as an extra. Not only that, but it doesn't even spray!

On a happier note, I also got 2 Barry M nail polishes...

279 Bright Pink & 305 Pink Flamingo

I already have one each of these, but as they were 2 for £5, I decided to buy spares in time for Summer!

Aside from this little haul, I also got my much-coveted Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Starter Kit yesterday : ) I have wanted to try this for ages, so I am really excited to finally be using it. I have used it twice so far (last night and this morning) and I'm looking forward to seeing if it removes all of my makeup. Compared to Clinique (where I needed 1 product for removing eye makeup, 1 product for removing facial makeup & then a separate cleanser) Cleanse & Polish claims to remove it all. This will save me both time and money, so I can't wait to see how it copes with removing foundation, powder, blusher, concealer, gel eyeliner & mascara! I am planning on a review post when I've been using it for a couple of weeks. So far, I love it, so watch this space!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend x

My First Blog Award!

I was awarded this blog award yesterday by the lovely Stacey from Nude Obsession

The Liebster Blog Award!

It was so nice of her and I really recommend that you check out her lovely blog : )

If there is a blog with 300 followers or less, this award is designed to bring those bloggers the recognition they deserve.

The idea with this award is that if it is awarded to you, you should link back to the person who gave it to you and then choose 3 blogs that they follow to award the Liebster Blog Award to.

Here are my 3 recommendations:

Clinique Moisture Surge Review...

I was a bit greedy with the recent Glamour magazine Clinique promotion and along with a few other things, I got two of these:

Clinique Moisture Surge

Each one of these tubes is 30ml, so for just £4 I got 60ml! Considering that a 50ml pot of this costs £30, this was a total bargain!

I have been using this every morning - after Dramatically Different and before MAC Prep+Prime Skin - and it's the perfect base for makeup. It locks in the Dramatically Different and keeps my skin hydrated. As the office I work in has the central heating on all the time, this has become my skin saviour.

The texture is a gel-cream and is a light pink. It sinks in very quickly and leaves no greasy/sticky residue. I also love using this as a 5-minute moisture-boosting mask as a mid-week pick-me-up. To do this, I just apply a thicker-than-normal layer, leave it on for (yes, you've guessed it!) 5 minutes and then tissue off any residue. My skin is left plump, glowing & refreshed : )

Have you tried this fabulous moisturiser? Did you get any with Glamour? x

Topshop MakeUp I'm Lusting After!

My local Topshop only stocks a limited range of items - nail polishes & lip balms - so I love going to a larger store that's just over an hour from my home.

I'm really into wearing gel eyeliner at the moment... they are long-lasting, glide on smoothly and come in some amazing colours.

Therefore, I'm lusting after these 2 fabulous shades from Topshop

Steely

& Facet

How gorgeous do they look?! I especially love how each one comes with its own mini brush.

Steely is a gorgeous navy-blue... I can already imagine wearing this with lots of mascara & a nude pout! If you want to know more, click here.

Facet is described on Topshop's website as a burgundy, but as you can see, this clearly looks pink! I shall have to investigate further when I search for it in store in a couple of weeks' time. If it looks this gorgeous - and it's actually pink! - then I shall certainly be purchasing it. If you want to see more for yourself, you can do so here.

I've also got two other Topshop MakeUp items on my list...

Lip Stick in Coy

& Lipgloss in Daze

As I missed out on the hot pink lipstick they released, I think that these two are the next best thing : )

Coy is a gorgeous coral blush colour and claims to give lips a matte finish. It's also in the form of a chunky pencil, which makes it perfect for popping in your makeup bag. You just need a large sharpener to go with it! Topshop do sell other colours, but Coy is my favourite. If you like the look of it too, you can see a close-up here.

I also like the look of Daze. My favourite lipglosses tend to be nude/baby pink/hot pink. As I've never tried any of Topshop's lipglosses before, I'm intrigued to swatch this beauty! Giving a matte, moisturising finish, I can see this looking great over MAC Myth : ) There are also various colours in the range, but you can look at swatches of this here.

Steely & Facet cost £8 each, Coy costs £7 & Daze is £7.50 - real bargains! : )

Have you tried any of these products? Can you recommend any other shades? x
