Does the Maybelline 24h Gel Eyeliner really last all day? ...

... almost! :)

I wanted to try this after seeing that (a) it was only £5.99 (on offer in Boots) and (b) that it also came with a brush! This is something that my beloved MAC Fluidline doesn't come with and it costs twice as much!

Here's mine...

I love the little pot & brush too...

& a close-up...

I really like the raised lettering on the brush and the frosted glass pot. It makes the product look and feel more expensive than £5.99!

The brush is a cinch to use and the gel itself is very smooth. It just glides on and takes no time at all to apply. I decided to test it today and applied it at 7.30am. So... did it hold up all day? Here's how it looked at 8pm tonight (when I took the photo):

As I was wearing it to work, I only applied it to my upper and lower waterline. It certainly stayed put all right :) I loaded the brush with colour and voila!

In actual fact, it lasted better than MAC Fluidline. The gel went on really smoothly and the fact that I had slightly watery eyes did not alter its performance. Considering that I wore it for 13 hours (and counting!) I'm really impressed by it.

The colour is a lovely rich matte black...

Excuse the slight blur - I had trouble focusing (it's that smooth!) ;)

Maybelline say...
* Gel Formula
* Lasts 24h, non transfer
* Intense colour
* Easy application (fine or thick line)

They also recommend that you clean the brush with a tissue after each use and that you remove it from your eyes with a waterproof eye makeup remover.

I will hold my hands up and admit that I wasn't expecting to be impressed by Maybelline's latest offering. I know, I know, I'm such a snob ;) This is purely because I have found their products to be hit & miss in the past. However, I've also been impressed by their 'The Eraser' foundation, so perhaps they've improved their formulas? Who knows, but whatever it is, I'm impressed.

Have you tried this gel eyeliner yet? x
